Files for Television
Indiana University's official marks can be used by television graphic artists. Available here are the Block IU, the Indiana University signature in horizontal presentation, and the Indiana University signature in vertical presentation. EPS files are available for applications using vector art, and TIF files have been prepared for all major United States television formats.
These marks are offered for download as packaged ZIP files.

Preparing Artwork for Use
When using the TIF files, the included alpha channel is used to select the shape of the actual mark, as the top visible layer shows only large blocks of color. This method creates edges with the highest quality anti-aliasing on a variety of backgrounds.
All files use properly defined colors as expressed in the RGB color space. These colors will need to be converted properly by those working in the ITU-R BT.601 color space (16-235 levels). The standard definition 720x486 and 720x480 files look slightly stretched horizontally because they use non-square pixels. These graphics will display properly when imported into D1 or DV projects. All other TIFs use square pixels.
Rules Governing Usage
Elements from different files should not be combined and must be used as displayed. For example:
- The white Block IU and IUPUI should only be used with the white "Indiana University,” or "Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis," and the colored Block IU and IUPUI should only accompany the black lettering.
- The "Indiana University" and ""Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis" signatures, as shown in IU's font, must always be accompanied by the Block IU or IUPUI and can never appear alone. The size and distance of the Block IU and IUPUI should remain in proportion to the lettering, as shown in these files. This does not apply to the brief moments when animation is used to bring the elements in, or out, of the frame.
- When the words "Indiana University" or "Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis" appear with the Block IU or IUPUI to present a complete logo, the words must be represented in the IU font.
- The Block IU and IUPUI can be used by themselves, without the words "Indiana University" or "Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis." The color of the Block IU must be red or white. The color of the IUPUI must be red and gold (as shown), or all white.
- Creative use of embossing, 3D extrusion, and lighting can be applied when IU marks need to match the character of other logos, but only during brief reveals and movement in and out of the frame. Once in position, the images must appear as displayed in these files.
